Moscow begins from the Kremlin – the central and ancient part of Moscow situated on Borovitsky Hill. The Kremlin is one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles in the world.
In late 13 th -early 14 th centuries there began the construction of Kremlin walls and towers, and there appeared the first stone churches in the in the early 14 th century. In the second half of the 15 th century the Kremlin was reconstructed with the assistance of Italian architects. The Kremlin's center became Cathedral Square , where the Cathedral of the Assumption was erected. Pskov masters created the Church of the Deposition of the Veil and Cathedral of the Annunciation. In the 1505-1508 the St. Archangel Cathedral was erected. The Kremlin architectural ensemble was completed by Ivan the Great bell-tower.
